Biography
Àánú Ṣódípẹ̀ is known for blending Western classical music with traditional Yorùbá culture, gospel, and jazz. She brilliantly versatile having performed with major artists like Stormzy, Asake, Robbie Williams, and orchestras including the BBC Concert Orchestra and Chineke! Orchestra as well as performing with the Outlook Orchestra at Glastonbury 2025 as part of Fabio and Grooverider’s history of jungle and drum and bass. She performed at the Hackney Empire’s Music is Black celebration hosted by Trevor Nelson in 2026. Àánú is also a member of the Citizens Of The Worls Choir Music Team and enjoys writing for them regularly.
Her music has been played and sung live by diverse and unique ensembles; she performed her Yorùbá song Àṣẹ live with the Citizens of the World Choir at the 2025 Greenwich International Festival. After hearing her original, Bebop Bach written for violin and piano, the Langham Big Band commissioned her to rearrange it to be performed with them at the Big Church Festival in 2025. In response to a commission from Vox Urbane, Àánú performed her original Obangiji with string ensemble and the Vox Next Gen choir in St George’s Cathedral in January 2026.
